ICC World Cup 2019: 3 Indian players who could be playing their last World Cup

2019 ICC World Cup is less than a year away, and it will take place in England. Ten different nations will participate in this World Cup and India along with England, and South Africa is considered as firm favourites to lift the trophy. Talking about India's current ODI, I must say it is in good shape with two trusted openers as Rohit and Dhawan along with the most flamboyant batsmen of modern-day cricket-Virat Kohli, the skipper of the Indian team in the no.3 position.

On the other hand, India has produced some excellent wrist spinners as well as two world-class first bowlers in the form of Kuldeep Yadav and Chahal along with Bumrah and Bhuvi respectively.

But the sad part is that most of the top order batsmen are already in their early 30s playing their 3rd or 4rth tournament, and maybe this could be their last World Cup.

So, without much ado, let's take a look at the 3 Indian players who could be playing their last World Cup.

1) MS Dhoni:

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former Indian skipper, will be playing in his fourth ODI World Cup consecutively and still, he is one of the fittest cricketers of the team. He is considered as one of the most successful ODI captains of India who leads India to the 2011 World Cup triumph and also gave us two other ICC trophies in the form of 2007 World T-20 trophy as well as 2013 Champions trophy.

Though he has already stepped down from captaincy in all formats of the game, the 36-year-old has the safe pair of gloves, and he could be the essential guide for the youngsters like Chahal and Pandya in England and Wales next summer. He is also in good batting form at the moment and we have seen him play some beautiful shots in the IPL and it means that ball is coming to his bat nicely at the moment and that is what India needs the most at this moment.

But the sad part is that 2023 ICC World Cup which will be held in India is too far for the former Indian captain, who will be 37 in July. So, we can expect Ishan Kishan or Rishabh Pant to replace him soon.

2) Shikhar Dhawan:

The Delhi dynamite will be playing in his second World Cup in a row. He was terrific for India in the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and also finished the tournament as the fifth highest run-getter.

Dhawan will become 33 in December, and he is expected to give his best like 2015 tournament, for India in the 2019 World Cup. He is almost sure to open the batting and also holds good records in English conditions since he was the highest run-getter for India in 2013 as well as in 2107 Champions Trophy.

And here comes the sad part, by the time of the 2023 World Cup, he will be 37, and the chances of him playing in the 2013 ICC WC looks slim and bleak. And also fight for the opening slot in the Indian cricket team is very intense at the moment, and I am sure KL Rahul would be knocking that slot by that time.

3) Rohit Sharma:

He is another successful cricketer who is into his early 30’s at the moment. He is one of the most flawless timers of the cricket ball I have ever seen along with Yuvraj Singh who can send the ball out of the park with ease and grace without giving that much effort. He is the only player in the world to hit three double hundreds in ODI cricket.

He is already 31-year-old and has played 180 One Day Internationals for India and scored 6594 runs at an average of 44.55. 2019 ICC World Cup will be his 2nd WC in a row. Though at the time of 2013 ICC World Cup he will be 35 only, we should keep one thing in our mind that he is the most injury prone batsmen of India. So, his chances of playing in the 2023 World Cup also looks bleak and slim.
